# Withdrawal Consolidation

## Overview

When funds are spread across multiple addresses within a wallet, Cactus Custody can consolidate them automatically so you don't have to manually move balances before making a withdrawal. Depending on your chain and use case, consolidation can be handled in one of two ways.

***

## Standard Consolidation

For account-based chains such as EVM, the system automatically consolidates funds when a wallet-level withdrawal is initiated and no single address holds enough to cover the amount. Funds from multiple addresses are gathered into the wallet's consolidation address, and the withdrawal is then sent out from there.

## Smart Contract Consolidation

For ETH and BSC chains, smart contract consolidation combines multiple address transfers into a single transaction, reducing overall gas costs. This feature must be enabled by the Cactus Custody operations team. \
